I'm Sew Proud!!
I have to tell you, I cannot sew. I BARELY passed home ec in high school. My sister... she could sit down and whip out stuff without patterns. I just wanted to throw the machine out the window. Last year in WI, my friend Pinie tried to teach us (everyone else did fine) how to piece together paper with a sewing machine, but I just ended up with balls of thread. They say that one of the machines wasn't working right, but I swear it was me and my sewing curse. Pinie was just trying to be nice I think. I gave up and moved on to the kitchen to help with dishes. LOL.
Some gals on SUDSOL were talking about machines and someone (Gina?) suggested the Janome Petite. I found the Janome Sew Mini on Ebay and got a good deal.... considering I can't sew. It's under five pounds and small, but was suppose to work just like a real machine. I saw this AWESOME tutorial about sewing on cards over at Belle Papier . Julia is AMAZING... don't look at her sewn cards before mine... LOL. LOVE all her work.... totally AWESBOMB! Girl can stamp AND sew!!
So, my machine came, I re-read the tutorial by Julia and I decided to give it a whirl while waiting for my Stampin'Up! preview brochure order. Oh My Gosh!! I'm SO thrilled with this little machine. It has the little petal to step on ( do they all?) LOL, and it doesn't go too fast... maybe that is my problem with big machines. So, for a sewing tard, I'm pretty darn proud of myself and can't wait to show my Mom.. she is NOT going to believe I sewed! I still need some practice, but I'm sewing, I'm sewing!!!!!

This is the piece that was cut off from the sewn piece in the card below. I have a ton of scraps from the Palette O' Prints pad, so I stamped the petal on them, and cut them out. Added a button from the neutrals button collection and a piece of ribbon from the Sweet Shop Ribbon Originals Collection.

These adorable bees were sent to me by Beate.... because I was admiring her wonderful bee cards that she made with her stamps from Eclectic Paperie. She was a sweetie and sent me some. Thanks Beate! I was trying to be patient and wait for my SU! box with my new goodies and right before I finished my card, my box arrived!! I quickly ripped into it and tore into my new Rhinestone Brads! They come in three sizes, and I couldn't decide, so I just used one of each. I even sewed around the circle! Can you believe it? I'm sewing, I'm sewing!!
Pinie showed us to get a piece of card stock and add just a tiny bit of adhesive to your strips of designer paper... don't worry about them all being the same length. Then, sew on all the seams, later you can cut them in the sizes you want. She made it look SO easy. SNORT. Today, it actually was... I'm so happy! Thanks my sweet friend! It might have taken me a year, but I did it!! I'm sewing!!!

Come to find out, it wasn't just Jayce who had Strep throat. I hadn't been feeling great for about a week, but didn't have a sore throat. Jayce, Averie and I tested positive for Strep. The first time I've EVER had it, but I guess it just gave me headaches, stomach aches and just plain made me miserable. So, the whole family is on antibiotics.... hopefully we'll kick this bug. I guess that's what we get for never having it before..... it's making up for years of being strep free.
Okay.. my box is here!! I'm SO excited to play with my new stuff! Have to get dinner for the gang first, but tonight, I'm cutting more rubbah baby!!!
Hope you all had a super day!! Thanks for stopping by!

The cards are great, love the color combinations, your sewing looks good to me.
Cami, you are the BOMB babee! I love EVERYTHING you create! Sewing? Who knew? lol
Oh my gosh, these cards are SOOOO cute!! You did an amazing job with the sewing!!! You seem like a natural! I am sewing-impaired as well, but now you've inspired me. Although I just have my regular machine, not that nifty sounding one you found! Truly, I love these cards, the colors and everything about them!!! :-)
Fantastic job on your sewing!! I am a sewing tard too and Julias tutorial was a life saver when I found a good deal on a sewing machine. Your first effort way outshines mine!!
These are fabulous!!
Wohoo! you rock girl! FAbulous job! Love them all...now you'll be hooked. Thanks for the info about that machine and thanks for linking me up babe! :)
I just LOVE everything you do!! I wish I lived next door to ya!! These cards are AWESBOMB!!! (As you like to say) I haven't done much sewing on cards but these have encouraged me to do more!

Wow! Great job! Beautiful cards. Love those bees!!
hey, you are just going to town on that sewing stuff--i think it must have been every machine you tried all along, because all this looks so great, like you're an old pro!! keep it up, girlie and you will be sewing couture!! ;)
Wow, you say you weren't a sewer?? How did you get the straight lines? I'm also sewing challenged and can never get my sewn lines that straight, you go girl!
Hah! You crack me up! Your sewing is great - but I know what you mean about the sewing experience. I took a sewing class and was the only one who only had half a purse done by the end of the six weeks - LOL! So, my sewing maching (and half a purse) are sitting in storage. Maybe I need to try the smaller machine - your sewing is the bomb - look how straight those lines are!
I wasn't really thrilled about that stamp... BUT, you made it look great! Your sewing is great too something else I wasn't real thrilled about trying and I LOVE to sew... I will be trying it now.. thanks!!
I can't sew with the big machines either... I think I might need one of these little buggers; your cards are enabling me! ACK!!! Too stinkin' danged cute!
LOVE them! great job!
~Kendra
All your cards are so cute and your sewing is fantastic! Your Vases in Vogue card is my favorite!
Yep! You are sewing alright and it's the BOMB! I might do it more if I had a smaller machine...Can you post a little pic tutorial or something? Adorable cards, Cami! But then, we never get anything less from you!
These are all GORGEOUS and I especially love the first two. I sure hope you put them on SCS so I can favorite them!!!! TFS
Cute Cute cute, you make me want to dust off the old Viking and take it for a whirl. I am proud of you cami because you are sewing my girl. You are SEWING!
Wow!! These cards are all SO cute!! Thanks for sharing!! Now I wish I could sew!!
Absolutely well done!!! You can SEW!
It looks to me like you can sew. the cards are great
OMGosh!!! These cards are gorgeous!!! I, too, am a sewing "tard" (you totally cracked me up)! Now I need to go and find one of these machines!! :-)
WOW!! All the cards are awesome, as usual!! Thanks for sharing your talent with us all!
You did a fantastic job, Cami! I certainly couldn'tguess that you didn't love to sew! :-D (I'm sewing-impaired too.)
These cards ROCK. Love them. What great ways to use those Pieces O' Palette! You'd never know that sewing isn't your thing (isn't mine either!) Looks wonderful!
I'm with you...I have NEVER used the sewing machine for anything other than paper....how sad is that? IT has NEVER touched fabric! These cards are wonderful Cami! LOVE EM!
Great job!! I don't have a sewing machine, but maybe I could find a little inexpensive one too?
Very cute. Love the colors AND the sewing!
will you sew me an outfit now?
LOL. (one in pink and one in tempting turquoise)
I am so impressed with what you create. You stamping queen you!!
(Can you tell I feel better?)
AWESOME job with the sewing! I don't have a machine, but I must check this out! Thanks for all your great tips and inspiration!
Beautiful cards!! Absolutely amazing!
Can you please tell me what type of sewing maching you bought. These cards are totally awesome. Thanks for sharing these peices of art!
Okay...my jaw just hit the floor! Those cards totally rock!! Great job with the sewing!! I love everything about these awesome cards!
I just have to tell you about me and sewing...I got a D- in home economics because I refused to finish my sewing project! I hated sewing that much! Fast forward 10 years or so and my husband surprises me with a sewing machine for my birthday in front of a whole group of friends....I cant look bummed! My mother-in-law bought me a private session with a teacher on how to use my machine....now I love to sew! I have been sewing for 12 years now!
Just had to share my story. By the way, I love your blog! I check it daily! Thanks for the inspiration you give us all! Alicia
Cami - these creations are DELISH!!!!!!!! So - I just started sewing classes Wednesday - would you like to be my teacher now?
Hey, you did it! I can't sew either and am terrified of trying! You are so talented! I think you can add sewing to your repertoire of talents :)!
both of these cards are just gorgeous cami!! I love to sew and quilt, but have yet to sew on a card - I need to give it a whirl - you did a fabulous job!
All of these cards are just GORGEOUS! I just LOVE the color combo. . .so bright and cheery!
Wow! I've been sewing for years and I don't think I could do as good a job as you did! Awesome work! Love those cards.
love all your stitches, Cambria! Your cards are such fun! I got my machine out yesterday too to fix DD's shirt and then had to use it on paper, of course. LOL. I tortured myself though....trying to stitch down tiny pieces of acetate...ugh....can we say "slippery"?? I was glad when they were done. :0)
Awesome Cami -
I am thinking I need to get rid of my sewing machine and get one of those little ones!
STOP IT, JUST STOP IT!!!
These cards are adorable! So glad you conquered your sewing demon! LOL
Fabulous!! I love these cards and I love the sewing. I just began sewing on paper not too long ago as well....I love the look!!
AwesBOMB baby!! I can't even sew a button, but I've always loved the look of sewn cards. Thanks for letting me know about the Janome mini, for the price and learning curve it might be the machine I've been waiting for!
I have been looking at the "toy" sewing machines and decided to not waste my money because all the reviews say they are no good. I am so excited to finally hear about a machine in a price range I can afford. Your cards are sooo inspiring! Now to go find one of these machines.
These are so very pretty! You did a great job. I sew quite a bit and I am not sure I would attempt a circle! :) The colors you used are gorgeous! Great job. You have inspired me to do some more card sewing!
Wow!! Fantastic, awesome, fabulous and so much more!!
Beautiful cards! Great job on the sewing and I love the bright colors. -Kim
Not just one, but 3 sewn cards? You done good, girl!
Cami,
All three of your cards are incredible. You even make that ugly vase set look like I need it! Awesome sewing. I need to get my machine fixed. :(
You did a great job sewing. I so like all the sewing cards you made. Keep it up. You made me smile. Thank you
JudyOR
Goodness...there are too many things I want to comment on! I can't sew worth a darn, and I'm even too scared to use my little $10 craft sewing machine I got from Michael's. Maybe I'll have to dive in and try again...and I love how you're using the POP papers and the new sets. I can't wait for my preorder to get here...it takes too long to cross the pond!!!
Oh, my gosh, Cami! You're killing me! This is the BEST of the best! How am I ever going to sleep tonight? You've SO inspired me!
Oh Cami I'm a sewing tard too and I'm so jealous of all this fabulous stitching! This whole series of cards is just amazing! LOVE them!!! Love the boldness of them!
oh you just rock! JUST ROCK!
