Weekend Sketch #72

Hey everyone! TGIF! This weekend's sketch is by Jenn Balcer.... I *KNEW* it was going to have flowers on it before I even saw it.... she's the queen.

This cute stamp set is called Get Well Hanna... by Hanna Stamps of course. I love her.... but she does looka little too gorgeous being sick right? She does remind me of my sweet Averie though. I love every stamp in this set... it's perfect for any person who is under the weather. TRUST me... I know under the weather lately. UGH.






I used Stampin'Up! punches for all the flowers. The designer paper is My Mind's Eye. I add sparkle and shine with both Sakura and atyou Spica pens, plus my all time favorite Sakura Clear Glaze. I popped up the rectangle piece with Jody's Foam Dots, and used the Long Rectangle and Label One Nestabilities.

Hanna Sneak Peak

I LOVE this new set coming out by Hanna Stamps! It's called Slumber Party... and if you have girls, it's a must! My little Averie had her first sleepover a few weeks ago and boy did she have a blast! I think this will be the perfect thank you note to send. :)

I had a hard time getting the card to stand up for a photo because the front flap is scalloped... sorry about that.

She's got Shimmerz on her headband (I finally used my Royal Purple... it was feeling neglected), and the lovely Pink Poinsettia Pink Blingz on her slippers, the pillow tassels, and the flowers on her shorts. The little pearl in her headband are from Ellen Hutson... love those self-sticking pearls. Now that I think about it, I think I'll add a tiny bit more Shimmerz. Maybe a dab of Angel wings to her teeth. Man, I hate it when I think of things to add AFTER I take the photo.

Here's a little better photo of the shine and shimmer. I paper pieced the pillow, then used a kraft knife to cut around her and slipped it under her.

Hanna Challenge!

Every Friday in the Hanna Stamps Member Forum, there is a challenge issued for the week by a design team member. They are so much fun!

I used the stamp set Vintage Toys. All the paper is designer paper from the Basic Grey Two Scoops Collection Pack.

The Penguins are Party'in

Oh yah baby... don't these guys just make you smile? They make me grin every time I see them. Love that little guy peeking out of the water.

You can see it in the photo, but the water hole is covered using with my clear Sakura Glaze Pen (my friend Nancy got me hooked on them all over again.) Their eyes too... they have just a dab of the black Glaze Pen to make em pop. LOVE those pens! It's like embossing without the mess.

Okay, so yesterday was horrible. Just when I thought I was feeling better, I woke up with the WORST headache. I got the kids on the bus, went back to bed and didn't even get up until 12:30! Slept the day away, but later in the afternoon my headache finally left and now I feel a ton better. So, I KNOW the rest of the week is going to be good! Averie is SO excited for Halloween this year. She hasn't decided for sure what she wants to be... it changes daily. One of my twins wants to dress up as a girl! I can't wait to put makeup on him.... he's such a goofball. I guess I better get up in the attic and get down the costumes huh? Wow, hard to believe it's only a few days away. What do you do for Halloween? Do you take the kids out, or stay home and hand out candy? Shoot... I guess I better get some candy too. Man, are they days just zooming by or is it me?

Ski Bunny Hanna Sneak Peek

Look at this sweet Snow Bunny Hanna! Oh my gosh, I love her! Every image in the set is TOO CUTE!! The Hanna releases just get better and better...... and wait till you see the new Riley/Sophie stamps! I'm drawing a winner tonight by the way, so don't forget to enter for a chance to win the Hanna blog candy! (see previous post).

I paper pieced Miss Snow Bunny and added Fun Flock to her gloves, socks, and hood. Her skiis are covered with Angel Wings Shimmerz and her snow goggles with Glossy Accents. Are they called snow goggles? What are they called? I have no idea, because we don't get snow on the OR coast. I remember one year we went to Crater Lake and my friend Lana thought it was hilarious when I calling those things snow bibs. I am snow attire illiterate. All I know is that she looks hot. :)

Happy Birthday Riley

Happy Saturday! I've got one more Hanna Sketch Challenge today. You can check out my previous post to see the sketch by Shannon. We'd love for you to play along with us!

I colored Riley with Copic markers and decorated the birthday cake with Shimmerz Bubble Gum paint. I then added "frosting" with Pastel Raspberry Liquid Pearls. Love this fun sketch!

Riley Moose Hanna Sketch Challenge

The challenge this week in the Hanna forums is sketch challenge! This weeks challenge brought to us by Shannon Tompkins. Thanks for the fun sketch Shannon!

I chose this cute Riley Moose with the pumpkins and apples for my main image. He's got Fun Flocked antlers and the leaves, pumkins and the apples have just a little bit of shimmer.




This time instead of painting the complete image with Shimmerz Paint, I just added a bit to the pumpkins, leaves and apples. I used the new colors Beeswax, Rustic Red, and a little bit of Pumpkin Shimmerz Paint. I embossed the background designer paper with leaves and the orange cardstock is embossed with pumkins from the new Cuttlebug Folders.

Gift Card Slider Tutorial

Hey stampers! Here is the tutorial I promised for the Slider Gift Card Holder. I had some instructions from SCS by Amy (genescrapper). She wrote her version based on a card from Paper Crafts magazine. This is what I did to make my sliders..... you ready? ** You can click on the photos to see a larger view.

You will need:
Four 2.75 x 4.25 pieces of cardstock
One 5 x 3.5 piece of cardstock
One 5.25 x 2 piece of cardstock
Two 2.5 x 4 pieces of Designer paper
Cardstock to make your center panel (Top Notch Die cut (red) in the photo below)




Word Window Punch
3/4 inch Circle Punch
Round Tab Punch
Dimensionals
Embellishments.

I used:
Top Notch Die, Nesties, The Big Shot (for my front panel) and my Scor-pal and Scor-Mat.

Step one:

Cut your cardstock






Step Two:

Add the designer paper to two of the four 2.75 x 4.25 pieces. Set aside.












Step Three: Take the 5.25 x 2 piece of cardstock and punch out with your word window punch two slots on each side.

Step Four: Punch out four circles with the 3/4 inch circle punch. Add dimensionals to two of them





Step Five: Place the circles with the dimensionals under the slots you made with the word window punch. Peel off the backing, then stick the other circles on top to make a sandwich over each slot.



Step Six: Add dimensionals to the center and each end.







Step Seven: Peel off the dimensional backs and attach to the center your slider on top of your 5 x 3.5 piece of cardstock.










Step Eight: Center two of the four pieces of cardstock that don't have the designer paper on them on your Scor-mat so that they are straight. This is important to make sure that they are straight and close together.







Step Nine: Add some Scor-tape on each circle on your slider portion. Peel off the backing and carefully center it onto your pieces in the in the above photo.






You should be able to pull on each end of your blank 2.75 x 4.25 pieces of cardstock and it will look like this.







Step Ten: Add dimensionals to the top and bottom. The edges of the dimensionals work great, but you could use cut them in half also.









Step Eleven: Slide out your pieces, peel off the backing on your dimensionals, then carefully center your two pieces with the designer paper over the dimensionals.





Step Twelve: Add your pull tabs and any other embellishments .

You'll cut your center piece in half... or at least the main part that will be glued on the front.

The designer paper is glued onto cardstock before I ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Notch Die to give it a little bulk.














Step Thirteen: Make sure the slider is closed and lined up, then adhere your front piece one half at a time.





Step Fourteen: Embellish the front. Add adhesive only to the top portion when you add it to the front.

* After I opened this one, I decided to add more designer paper on the inside slider part. I just cut a strip and slipped it under. I didn't like the look of the gift card, so I turned it over to the flat side and added cardstock cut in the same shape. When the recipient pulls off the card, they will see the gift card side and the cardstock will just pull off the back. I used repositional adhesive on the gift card and to attach it on the slider portion.


Wow.... this is a long tutorial. I hope it makes sense. I think this would be a fun card for someone who loves cooking or someone who hates it too... you could include a fast food gift card.

Of course I've added my little shazam touches with my Shimmerz Paint, paper piecing, and a little clip ( Clip Assortment from SU!) on the side that frames the lips.

I added Pull and Here at the top on bottom tabs with my Snap Stamps.

Hanna Challenge #33

Better late than never..... yah, that sounds good. Every Friday in the Hanna Stamps Forum over at SCS there is a challenge by one of the design team members. This last Friday (sorry I'm late), the challenge was from Frances and it was a sketch challenge. Awesome sketch Frances! If you'd like to play along, check out the Hanna forums over at SCS and upload your creation!

I used the Hanna Set called Teacher Hanna. How cool is she? I made the background by stamping over the designer paper. This is one thing I love about stamp sets you can mount on acrylic. You can arrange them on your block, then stamp over and over to make cool backgrounds......


See how I arranged all the sentiments on the lines on the block? This way, I get perfect alignment every time.














On the bottom, I used the Flowers Die from Sizzix, and added my favorite Dot stickers from Stampendous to the centers. I added a little school bus charm that I got at Walmart.
