Cami's Bib Shirt Tutorial

Okay... so, I was a little surprised by all the requests for the pattern, so I decided to show you real quick. I don't like this card as much as the one in the previous post, but when I was throwing it together, I thought how cute would it be to have that Made in the USA stamp on the front? It could even be a baby announcement! Look at at all the cute stamps from the set All about the USA that would work for this card? Fun huh? If I have time this week, I'm making more! For this card, I used two stamp sets, Sweet Treats and Let Freedom Ring. I'm totally in love with Kaisercraft Rhinestones! Do you see them on the stars and on the flowers at the bottom of the card? I need more colors! Okay.... here's how to make this super easy card. I can't wait to see your version, so I hope you share with me!

Step One:

Cut your regular size A2 card stock whatever color you want the shirt to be. 5.5 x 8.5, scored at 4.25.

Open the arm of your Fiskars cutter and lay the open end of the card flush against the top. The side of your card should be flush with the edge of the cutter. Your scored end will be facing you.





Step Two:

Place the arrow on the side of the orange cutter on the three, then press down, through both pieces of the cardstock

Push it all the way to the end (towards the bottom of your card, or the opening).

Flip the card and repeat on the other end.



Your cut piece should look like this.

Step Three:

Measure down one inch from the top score line, and make a small mark. Cut from that mark in to the cut you made on the sides to make your sleeves.









This is what your card should look like now. If you want the same color bib, you can save the side pieces for the straps.










Step Four:

Take a circle punch and make your neckline.

Tip: To make a scallop neckline, punch out another half circle on another piece of cardstock, then go right over the top and punch again, but use a scallop punch. That will give you a nice little piece to glue over the exact spot on your t-shirt neckline.








Step Five:

Make your front bib pieces. The front piece will be three inches in length, but I cut at 3 1/4 if I use a border punch along the bottom. The width I just measure and cut... it seems to always be a tad different. Cut your overall straps at whatever width you want, by 1.5. Decorate and then glue to the front of your card!

Jody Morrow Box Tutorial

I LOVE Jody Morrow! If you haven't been over to her blog to visit, you are missing out... she's always coming up with AWESOME ideas. This box is totally her design. Take a look here. I love it SO much... I ended up tweakin it just a tad. For me, it's easier to make this smaller version with my Scor-pal... and you know me, easy gets me every time. The last time I made her box (I've made a LOT), I cut the paper the wrong size and had some left over on one side, so I made a flap. Good excuse to use my favorite little magnets for a closure. :)

I'm going to show you how I made this one today. :)

Supplies:

Stamps: Anna Mae, Lola Love (Our Craft Lounge).
Paper: Grape Bazzill, Apple Green Bazzill, Plum Delight Bazzill, Neenah White.
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copic Markers, YG11, BV01, BV15, BV17, E00, Y21.
Other: Rectangle Nesties, Cuttlebug, Shimmerz Royal Purple, Blingz Wintergreen, Sakura Glaze pen (clear), Grosgrain Ribbon (Stampin'Up!), Scallop Edge Punch (Stampin'Up!), Basic Grey Magnetic Snap Closures, Scor-Pal, Fiskers Cutter.



Cut your card stock 6x12. You can get two boxes from one 12x12 sheet of card stock.

Score on the long side at
4.5
6.5
and 11 inches.









Score on short side at:

1.5 and 4.5

Line up your box short side up, with the score line in the cutting blade lane.

cut down to the first horizontal score line.














Lift the blade, line up the arrows on the side with the next horizontal score line.

Continue to cut on the rest of the score line.

Flip and do the same on the other side.










Now flip your box so that the long side is up. Line up the first center score line with the two inch mark on your cutter.

Make sure before you start cutting that your card stock is butted up against the bottom and that your score line is lined up on the two inch line.









Cut down to the first score/cut line. Stop, lift the blade, line up the arrows on your blade with the next score/cut line. Continue to cut.










Flip and do the same for the other side.

















Your finished cut and scored box will look like this. :)













Scallop the ends if you want, or leave them plain. Fold your flaps and apply adhesive to form the bottom of your box.

Stamp and color your image for the front of your box. Adhere it to the front (the side with no extra flap).

Now for the fun flap. Get one negative and one positive snap magnet.



Place the magnets on the front top portion of your box. One on the outside and one on the inside. Reposition them so that when the flap from the back side is closed, it covers the magnet on the outside.












Carefully lay the front of your box down, pull off the magnet from the inside of your box, peel off the adhesive, and let it stick to the same spot you removed it from.









Pull off the magnet from the outside/front of your box, close the flap over the front, then take off the backing and stick the magnet to the front of the flap.











Make your flap.

This one measures 1.25 x 3 (apple green) after the scallops. The purple strip measures 1 x 3 inches (layered on the apple green). If you are going to add things that need to line up with your main image, like with Anna Mae here, do not add those until the very last. If you do not want the ribbon to show on the back side when the flap is opened, add it before adhering to your flap.




Adhere your flap right over the magnet on the front flap.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the little snap sound those magnets make when the top closes.... it feels like magic! :)

Folding Desktop Calendar

Hey stampers! At our last stampin meeting, my friend Nancy Littrell brought this cool calendar she made. You can see it here in her SCS gallery. I've wanted to make one,but other stuff got in the way. Then, my friend Nancy Morgan posted this awesome tutorial, so I decided to just do it! I adore the Nancys. :) Thanks girls... for sharing all your awesome ideas and creations.







I changed each page just a bit, but I always used Stampin'Up! designer paper. One side for the base 3 3/4 x 5 mounted on a piece of Chocolate Chip 4 x 5.25. The Top Note piece was always the opposite side of the designer paper.











The only stamp set I used was Season by Season. The rest was made using either SU! Sizzix Dies or Punches.











The whole calendar is on one piece of Kraft card stock cut 5.5x 8.5 and scored at 4 1/4. Just like you'd cut for a regular sized card.

I changed the closure a bit. Instead of using ribbon, when I attached the chocolate chip layer onto the Kraft base, I did not add adhesive to the bottom portion. This way, you can slip the base that holds it open and upright, right between the Kraft base and the chocolate chip. This holds it open nice and sturdy.



The base piece was a scrap on my desk. It measures 4 x 3 scored in one inch on each end of the four inch side.

Mr. & Mrs. Frankie Treat Boxes

Sorry I haven't posted much this week, but it's been SO busy in the Turnbow house.

I have a class on Saturday with my girls, and this is one of the projects we'll be making. You'll have to tune in next week or over the weekend to see the rest. :)

The Frankie face was inspired by many that I've seen. If it was your original idea, send me a quick note and I'll be happy to give you credit. I didn't CASE anyone specifically. The Frankette idea hit me when I saw the pink cardstock out on my desk. LOL.. there is always pink cardstock on my desk! The little bow stamped in her hair is from the Just Jawing stamp set with a Round Rhinestone brad in the center. Frankie's eyelids are raised up with dimensionals.

OMGosh.. these were SO easy to make if you have the Big Shot! I'm totally whipping these out for my daughter's classroom this year. Okay... so my heart needs some work, but I did it on a whim. Here is what the back of the treat boxes look like.


And from the side:




I used the box in my previous post that was designed by Jody Morrow. See previous post for a link to her tutorial. I modified it slightly by doing the following:

I cut my card stock 6x 11 and scored the 11 inch side at 4.5 and 6.5 with the Scor-Pal. Then I flipped the cardstock so that the six inch side is at the top of my Scor-pal and scored at 1.5 and 4.5. I then slid it into my Fiskers cutter and cut on the score line from the top of the 6 inch side down to the center score line. I did that on each score line for a total of four times. Then, I slid the 11 inch end into my fiskers again and cut off two inches of the flaps we just made. I then used my Scallop Edge punch and centered it along the ends to make the ends pretty.Fold and glue.

Instead of glueing the sides like I did with the Baby one, I left these unglued to make it easier to get into the box. I also closed them differently by using the Slot Punch and ribbon. If you don't like the ribbon showing, you can tuck the bow down inside.

*Make sure when you are adhering your faces on, that you do not add any adhesive around the slot punch so that you can slide the ribbon through.

Supplies:

Stamps: Just Jawing (for Frankette)
Paper: Green Galore, Pink Passion, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Whisper White.
Ink: Green Galore, Black Stampin Write Marker.
Other: Sponge, Rhinestone Brad, Grograin Black and Gingham Ribbon, Slot Punch, 1 Inch Circle, 1/2 inch circle Punches, Round Tab Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, This Way Punch, White Uniball Gel Pen, Dimensionals, Scor-pal, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Small Cello Bags, Candy.

I may have time to write up a tutorial for my customers, if I do , I will share, but I think the directions above and Jody's tutorial, you won't have any problems. These are EASY PEASY! :)

Gift Card Slider Tutorial

Hey stampers! Here is the tutorial I promised for the Slider Gift Card Holder. I had some instructions from SCS by Amy (genescrapper). She wrote her version based on a card from Paper Crafts magazine. This is what I did to make my sliders..... you ready? ** You can click on the photos to see a larger view.

You will need:
Four 2.75 x 4.25 pieces of cardstock
One 5 x 3.5 piece of cardstock
One 5.25 x 2 piece of cardstock
Two 2.5 x 4 pieces of Designer paper
Cardstock to make your center panel (Top Notch Die cut (red) in the photo below)




Word Window Punch
3/4 inch Circle Punch
Round Tab Punch
Dimensionals
Embellishments.

I used:
Top Notch Die, Nesties, The Big Shot (for my front panel) and my Scor-pal and Scor-Mat.

Step one:

Cut your cardstock






Step Two:

Add the designer paper to two of the four 2.75 x 4.25 pieces. Set aside.












Step Three: Take the 5.25 x 2 piece of cardstock and punch out with your word window punch two slots on each side.

Step Four: Punch out four circles with the 3/4 inch circle punch. Add dimensionals to two of them





Step Five: Place the circles with the dimensionals under the slots you made with the word window punch. Peel off the backing, then stick the other circles on top to make a sandwich over each slot.



Step Six: Add dimensionals to the center and each end.







Step Seven: Peel off the dimensional backs and attach to the center your slider on top of your 5 x 3.5 piece of cardstock.










Step Eight: Center two of the four pieces of cardstock that don't have the designer paper on them on your Scor-mat so that they are straight. This is important to make sure that they are straight and close together.







Step Nine: Add some Scor-tape on each circle on your slider portion. Peel off the backing and carefully center it onto your pieces in the in the above photo.






You should be able to pull on each end of your blank 2.75 x 4.25 pieces of cardstock and it will look like this.







Step Ten: Add dimensionals to the top and bottom. The edges of the dimensionals work great, but you could use cut them in half also.









Step Eleven: Slide out your pieces, peel off the backing on your dimensionals, then carefully center your two pieces with the designer paper over the dimensionals.





Step Twelve: Add your pull tabs and any other embellishments .

You'll cut your center piece in half... or at least the main part that will be glued on the front.

The designer paper is glued onto cardstock before I ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Notch Die to give it a little bulk.














Step Thirteen: Make sure the slider is closed and lined up, then adhere your front piece one half at a time.





Step Fourteen: Embellish the front. Add adhesive only to the top portion when you add it to the front.

* After I opened this one, I decided to add more designer paper on the inside slider part. I just cut a strip and slipped it under. I didn't like the look of the gift card, so I turned it over to the flat side and added cardstock cut in the same shape. When the recipient pulls off the card, they will see the gift card side and the cardstock will just pull off the back. I used repositional adhesive on the gift card and to attach it on the slider portion.


Wow.... this is a long tutorial. I hope it makes sense. I think this would be a fun card for someone who loves cooking or someone who hates it too... you could include a fast food gift card.

Of course I've added my little shazam touches with my Shimmerz Paint, paper piecing, and a little clip ( Clip Assortment from SU!) on the side that frames the lips.

I added Pull and Here at the top on bottom tabs with my Snap Stamps.
