Long Notes Mini Album/Palette Prints

I had to have the Long Notes out of the Spring Mini from Stampin'Up!. But then, they just sat on my desk and each time I reached to use them, I had a hard time making anything work that I really liked. I am in a small swap with a group of friends with the Palette O'Prints ( you can purchase for $9.95 with any $35.00 SU! order during the month of May). This double sided beautiful designer paper comes in a pad that measures 6x6, includes 48 sheets with 12 different prints of four colors.... they are awesbomb.

As most of you know, I've been busy helping out while my Grandma is recovering from open heart surgery, so time is short. I was pleased at how fast these went together. I will write a tutorial with photos and hopefully have it up tomorrow, so check back with me.

The inside is blank since these were for a swap, but it would be perfect for 3x3 photos! Wouldn't this be cute for Mother's day? A little brag book she could throw in her purse?

Thanks for the Cards!!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop on and tell you all how much I appreciate the sweet cards you've sent to my Grandma.... they have totally MADE her days. Thank you!! And... you write such nice things... it seriously touches my heart. I feel SO lucky to have all of you.

We had a couple nights back in the hospital here at home, but she is back home now and doing really well.

I'm going to be absent for a bit. I don't have much time for stamping. I keep thinking after I get home and get the kids to bed, I'll stamp, but then I sit here and yawn. I'm sure next week will be better. I have one small swap to finish up, so I'll post that soon.

Anyway, I'm off to do some grocery shopping (my least favorite thing to do) and then get the twins to a dentist appt. later, then up to G-ma's for the evening.

Big Blooms Challenge

I was wasting time this morning on the computer, being a lump, when I got an IM from my friend Beate. We were both complaining about our need to stamp and lack of desire or mojo. So... we decided to challenge each other. She picked the paper... which was originally Au Chocolat, but I can't find mine (yes... my desk is THAT messy), so we settled on the Petals and Paisley's DS paper. I picked the stamp set... kinda. I was super wishy washy this morning. I should have gone to bed earlier last night. Okay... so I was SUPPOSE to pick the stamp set and Beate said "Big Blooms?" and I said "Perfect." LOL... see... wishy washy I tell yah. I need more coffee.

This happens to me a lot. I have a ton of stamping to do and I avoid doing it because nothing comes to me. As soon as I sit down and just START, then I enjoy it and actually get something done. Thanks for the start this morning sweet friend!!

I'm super happy! My grandma gets to come home on Saturday!! My Mom will stay with her for about a month or so, so I'll fill in and give her a break whenever I can. She will have a nurse and occupational therapist checking in too. I know she has a long recovery ahead, but she is amazing and I know she'll be back to running around and playing cribbage with her friends again soon. I'm hoping for a full recovery for her big 87th birthday coming at the end of June. It will be a super celebration!! Thanks again to all of you for your support. She is LOVING the cards... it's so nice to see her big ole smile again.

Palette Prints Tri-Fold Slit Punch

I'm so excited!! I got my first "job". It wasn't really a job, because it was super fun, but I actually, for the first time, got compensated for my work!!

I got a pm from this really nice lady on SCS named Diana asking me if I'd write a tutorial for my Tri-fold Slit punch card using her new product called Scor-pal. I was really excited because I've always wanted a better scoring method. I was even MORE thrilled when it arrived and I got to play with it. I was worried that it was going to be too big and take up too much room since I had never seen one, but much to my surprise it was made out of lightweight plastic!! It can easily be stored on it's side so that it takes up no room at all. I was even happier that I get to keep it for writing the tutorial!! I've already used it for a workshop and I have to say that it will for sure be a tool that I get a ton of use from. I love the fact that I can put one full sheet of 12x12 and score along the entire edge. I especially like the nice deep score with no effort and no worry of pushing too hard and tearing through the card stock. Thanks so much Diana!! I love my Scor-Pal!!!

I really like how these turned out. I think I like the Celery Brads in the centers better, but I had used my last three in the first card.

This Trifold is made with Rose Red Cardstock, and mounted on a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 piece of Old Olive. The designer paper is from the new Palette of Prints from Stampin'Up! I LOVE that new paper and can't wait to find some more time to play with it all.
Love my punches.... you all know that. I only used two stamps for this card. I used the Thanks portion from the set Small Sayings, and the friend sentiment from In My Thoughts. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to get the sentiment nice and straight. I used my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker with the brush tip to ink up only the portion I wanted. Make sure you use your Stampin Scrub and get the stamp super clean in between each step. I left the portion on the right blank so that I can write a note inside. I am so far behind on thank you notes!!

Okay... I have a super busy day and the rest of the week. I'm hoping to get my Grandma home this weekend and I need to take care of some things at her house. My son did have strep throat, AGAIN, so just got him back to school today. Oh, and I have a small swap due too. I NEED more of this paper too. See... I'm so scattered. LOL. Some days, I truly FEEL so blonde.

Oh, and one more thing... I sent off a birthday card to Shane. I hope you can all pop one in the mail for him too.

And... a BIG THANK YOU for all of you that sent or are sending cards to my Grandma. She LOVES them and it truly makes her days go by in the hospital. Remember how I said she never complains? Well... she does not like the hospital food, so I take it back! LOL. She is so ready to come home. They drained some fluid off her lungs yesterday, so now she just needs to get up and do some more walking and get her strength back up. She truly is my hero. I hope I'm as tough as her in my 80's.

Palette Prints Designer Clippies

I made these up real quick to take to my grandma at the hospital along with some others I had previously made. She LOVES these bookmarks, so I thought she would enjoy a few to hand out to her nurses and staff at Sacred Heart. It was a long weekend, but happy I got to see her and that she is doing SO much better. I hope we can bring her home by next weekend.

These are the new flower dies used with the Cuttlebug. I got them from www.eclecticpaperie.com. They do take more time to make, but they are worth it. The paper is the new Palette Prints from Stampin'Up available May 1st. LOVE them!! Double sided... just YUMMY. Ribbon is Cindy Ribbon (starlitstudios), thanks Beate!! :)

Okay..... can you tell I'm just beat tired? I feel like I'm slurring... can you slur when you type? LOL. Jayce is done with his antibiotics and his sore throat is back, so tomorrow it's back to the Dr.... thanks goodness he didn't go with us this trip to see Grandma. Hope you all had a great weekend! The Big, Crabby, 40 baby!!

I hate being so far from my grandma

I made this one to fit in those envelopes that I got from Target, so I tried to bring in a little green to the scene. The card base is gable green. There is one small layer of basic black and real red under the main image, which is on shimmery white SU! card stock. All the coloring is done with my aquapainter and ink pools in the lids of my classic pads. Images are stamped with Timber Brown Stazon. I started by stippling cool caribbean and creamy caramel on the shimmery and went from there by adding the rest.

I want to thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for the support you've given me!! And, a BIG extra thank you to all of you who are sending cards my grandma's way. I know she will treasure each one!!

and each time the phone rings, I get a little nervous. Thankfully, things seem to be going well, even though yesterday she had to spend one more night in ICU. I can't complain too much, since most of my cousins are much further away. Thank goodness for email and cell phones!! Anyway, one of my cousin's turned the big 40 the day after my grandma had surgery. I had this card half made for him before I left. It was relaxing to sit and color and it helps get my mind off things. I am such a worry wort. He is flying out today from MN and I'm sure it will make my grandma's day to have him there when she gets out of ICU. He also grew up here on the OR coast and also grew up crabbing and fishing. I thought he'd especially like the little crab scene. :) I can't rib him too much about turning 40, since it's right around the corner for me. LOL I hope this card brings him a big ole smile... even though he is THE BIG 40 now!©Stampin'Up! 1990-2007

Update on Grandma

Grandma is doing well and will be out of ICU today! They had to put in a mechanical valve instead of the pig's valve because her artery was too small, but the surgery went well and she is recovering well. Yesterday they had her up and sitting in a chair for a short while and she ate Jello.

I have to tell you that my Grandma truly is my hero. She had the entire staff laughing and smiling right up until surgery. I don't believe I've EVER heard her complain. After surgery, it was HARD to see her in so much pain. The only thing she said is "it hurts SO much". I thought my heart would just fall out. You'd be proud though. I kept those big girl panties on and didn't cry until AFTER I was out of the room. I had to come home, but later in the day my Mom said she was again, having fun with the staff and just doing as well as could be expected. I'm AMAZED with what they do these days in the medical field, and SO thankful that I will have my grandma for many more years!!

Thank you SO much for all the emails, phone calls, thoughts and prayers. I appreciate it SOOOOO much.

If you'd like to send my Grandma a RAK, she would LOVE it. Send me an email at cambriaturnbow@charter.net and I'll give you her address. It sure would make her day to get some well wishes in the mail. We are hoping to get her home sometime next week.

I like neutrals for hallways, but I love eggshell blue (just the slightest hint of blue) for a living room, dining room, etc. It brings out any blue that you put on the walls (we have a lot since it is my favorite color!) By the way, I first tuned into your blog because you're in Oregon (yeah!) but you're on my daily favorites for your fresh and fun ideas. I just love seeing your creativity and appreciate the work you do keeping up a blog so that you can share with us. Thank you!!!
