A think a trip to Costco is worth a trip to the ortho, but that's just me. Now, which one was more expensive?? :) Here's my recipe for awesome chili:

1 1/2 - 2 lbs. of lean beef (I usually use a package of stew meat, or a london broil cut into bite sized pieces)

Marinate the beef overnight with a blottle of beer.

Dry the beef on some paper towels. While beef is resting, chop up 1 green bell pepper, 1 medium onion, 3 celery ribs, and 2 cloves of garlic.

In a large pot, brown the beef in 2 tbsps of oil, then throw in the veggies; cook until the veggies are crisp-tender. Now dump in 2 cans of dark red kidney beans, (drained and rinsed)1 can of diced tomatoes, and 1 large can of crushed tomatoes.

Add 3-4 tbsp of chili powder, 1 tbsp of cumin and S&P to taste.

(My kids don't like anything spicy, so this is a very mild chili; add more spices to suit your family)

Cover and simmer for at least 45 minutes, up to 2 hours.

We love this over rice, with cheese on top.

Thanks for the awesome blog and all your hard work. Looking forward to another year of great blogging!

Congrats to you. I think we should be thanking you for all of your inspiration!

So for my recipe... my family just tried this last night, and they all loved it!

I bought a bag of Tyson seasoned beef strips (like fajita meat). Cooked them in like 5 minutes. And made some awesome steak tacos! Even my 7 year old son who won't eat meat LOVED it! He asked to have it every night! Yum!

Congrats on your blogaversary! What great blog candy! Thanks for the chance to win. Here is my super easy dinner recipe:

Toss boneless chicken breast in the crockpot and season with what ever you would like. Cook for a few hours until done, shred into bite size pieces. Take your favorite BBQ sauce and coat chicken, then slap it onto a bun and serve with veggies or fries. Easy!

Happy Blogaversary! What an exciting time!

Favorite Recipe in the slow cooker would be... Beef Roast. I add the beef roast, rutabegas, parsnips, carrots, potatoes and turnips. All chopped and pour enough water to cover everything, add a little salt and pepper - let cook for four to six hours. One hour before this is done I add red onions for flavoring. It is perfect and my 21 month old loves all these vegetables - what could be better!

Thanks!

Thank you for all the great projects and inspritition you give us. Also Happy Blogaversary! I don't have a good recipe but my grandson's favorite is Chicken & Noodles.
I usually buy a already cooked chicken and debone it, cook some noodles and mix it all together with Cream of Chicken soup. A very simple meal.

Doggie Bark

Help your child make a special treat for that other member of the family, plus any other dogs in her life. (We hear that reindeer are also partial to this bark!) Be sure to use carob chips -- chocolate is harmful to canines.

Be sure to check out our other great ideas for Gifts Kids Can Make.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
4 cups carob chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup dry-roasted peanuts or chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1. In a bowl, melt the carob chips in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir them with a wooden spoon, then microwave for 30 seconds more.

2. Stir in the peanut butter and microwave for another 15 seconds. Stir the ingredients again to combine.

3. Add the nuts and the cinnamon, then stir the mixture to coat the nuts.

4. Line an edged cookie sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the mixture onto the foil and chill it for 15 minutes in the freezer or 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

5. Remove the bark and break it into roughly 1- by 2-inch pieces. Store it in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. Makes about 70 pieces.

I'll leave a recipe for any furry children you may have :))

Thanks for the chance, I certainly could use this kit!

Blessings!

Thanks for all you do here! Your ideas are amazing and so are the recipes others are sharing. I will share a quick, easy soup/chili recipe that I got from a dear friend of mine doing weight watchers. They call it 6 can soup...I call it poop soup. :) All you do is mix everything together and simmer: can of cooked chicken, can of FF refried beans, can of black beans, can of corn, can of chicken broth and a 15oz jar of salsa. I know it sounds nasty but it is REALLY good!!

Wow Cambria! I can't imagine what it was like before I started checking your blog daily! Congrats and thanks for all you share w/us!

So...for a recipe...hmm..which to choose.

I like to take a Pork Roast & throw it in a Crock Pot w/a few dashes of Liquid Smoke & Sea Salt. Cook for about 4 hours. Combine w/some potatoes & other typical roast sides for an easy dinner. Then you can use the left overs to make Pork Tacos w/just a bit of Taco or Fajitas spice & some tortillas.

My DH has an easy recipe for Kaluha Pig-no digging required!! You take a roast really any kind but usually pork lol, rub with Hawaiian sea salt, 2-3 bottles of liquid smoke and cook on high 6 hours. When done it's nice and tender so it is easily shredded with two forks. Everytime we are invited to a potluck-this is what they want him to bring! Congrats on your blogging success!!

Okay, here it goes...super delicious, easy appetizer that I have to make whenever family gathers-they demand it!

Hot Clam Dip:
2 cans minced clams (in juice)
1 stick unsalted butter
1 medium onion diced
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
8oz shredded mozzarella

In a saute pan cooked onions in butter until soft. Turn off the heat and add in the clams with juice and the bread crumbs and stir until absorbed. In a small oven proof dish layer the mixture with the shredded cheese, beginning with the mixture and ending with cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes until cheese is melted and heated through. Serve this warm with crackers...voila! Even the kids love it!

It's such an easy thing to make, even last minute to bring somewhere..try it!

Congratulations on your first year and continued success!

Awesome blog candy!! One of my fav easy recipes to make is a sausage and pesto pasta. I slice up some mild italian sausage and remove the casings and cook it until it's no longer pink then add a container of pesto to it and let it simmer for a couple minutes. Meanwhile, I cook some fusilli pasta, strain it and then add it to the sausage and pesto and mix it together well. I serve it up with a little sprinkling of parmesan cheese on top and it's delicious!!

Krista said...

Congrats on your blogaversary! This is my first time to visit your site, I know I will be back!!
Here is my recipe, works well for breakfast or dinner. I made it for birthdays at work a lot:
Breakfast Casserole
1-1/2 lbs. sausage (I actually use 2 lbs. and I use the mild sausage)
9 eggs (I use 10, I’m not sure why, I’ve just always put in 10)
3 c. milk
1-1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1-1/2 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
1-1/2 c. shredded cheese (I use sharp cheddar and use closer to 2 cups)
8 slices bread – cubed

Brown the sausage and drain. Mix eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper. Add sausage, cheese and bread to the egg mixture. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 Pyrex pan and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. **This is really important. I’ve tried to take it right out and bake it, and it takes it a lot longer to bake if it’s too cold. It can turn out soupy in the middle.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. It should be puffy and firm in the middle.

Congratulations on your blogaversary! Here is another recipe for you to try...thought I'd give you the black bean salsa to go with the taco bake I wrote about last week, but I don't know if off of the top of my head...so INSTEAD
Cheese Ravioli Bake
Preheat your oven to 425
Thaw 1.5 bags of frozen cheese ravioli--I like the Wal-Mart brand, but any brand of quick cooking raviolis will do. If they're not completely thawed, it's okay because they'll cook up in the oven
Heat some of your favorite spaghetti sauce and put a little water in the jar and swish it around--put that in the bottom of a baking dish (square works best--if you use a rectangular, you might just want to use 2 bags of ravioli and increase the sauce, etc...
Brown 2.5 links of turkey sausage. They usually come 5 to a package so I just split it in half.
Once the turkey sausage is browned, you can add some chopped fresh basil (2 or 3 leaves) and some chopped roasted red peppers. You can buy these by the jar--if it's a tall jar, use half, a shorter jar you can throw the whole thing in. Okay, so you warm that mixture and then you can start layering. You'll already have your watery sauce in the bottom of your dish which will help prevent your first layer of raviolis from sticking. So, layer the cheese raviolis, then put some of the meat mixture, then the sauce, throw in some mozarella if you want, and continue layering. The top should just be covered with sauce. Bake this for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, take it out sprinkle with parmesan cheese and pop it back in until the cheese is melted. Delicioso.

I love your blog and it's my daily blog visiting list. Here is a recipe for you. It's called "Debra's Dessert," dubbed that by me, and it's from my friend Debra, who is also a stamper. We've never met in person, only on line. I live in Montana and she lives in Mississippi!

Debra's Dessert
Use a 9 by 13 pan, pour in 2 cans of apples (apple pie filling). I cut them up a bit , so the apples are smaller pieces. Sprinkle a Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake Mix over that, I don't use the Yellow Butter one, just the Classic Yellow. I'm sure any brand will do, but I always buy Duncan Hines. Next, sprinkle chopped pecans over the cake mix. Then melt a stick of margarine, adding some water to that, to make it cover a little better, keep mixing with the spoon as you are spooning it over the cake mix, as water seperates from the margarine quickly. I bake it at 350, but I don't think I have ever really timed it. I get it out when it's golden brown, not real brown though.

How's that for a "formal" recipe! All I can say is IT'S DELICIOUS!

You are such an inspiration. I love reading and looking at your blog. It is the first thing I do, most days. Here is an easy recipe my family loves. Easy Turkey Chili...1/2 pound ground turkey, cooked and drained. 1 can drained pinto beans, 1 can drained kidney beans, 1 can roasted garlic tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 can water, 1 pack of chili seasoning. I use McCormicks. Throw it all in the crockpot and let is simmer for 2 to 4 hours. You do not have to do this but it makes it a bit more flavorful. I sometimes as a bit of ketchup. My kids love it and it is so easy. You can also reduce the water if you like it thicker. Yum!

Happy Blogaversary - and what great blog candy! Hmmmm...our current 'favorite' recipe is for baked chicken breasts. Try it - it's healthy and delicious:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
handful of rough chopped almonds
4 tsp of your favorite mustard

Spray the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray. Lay chicken breasts in the pan and spread a teaspoon of mustard on top of each. Top with chopped almonds and bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. I use Honeycup brand 'uniquely sharp' mustard because I like the taste but also because it's thick and sticky and holds the almonds in place. I usually roast a tray of vegetables in the oven at the same time. Right now it's broccoli, cauliflower and peppers. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder.
This dinner leaves plenty of room for dessert!!!

I struggle with cooking myself... not that I can't cook, I just don't enjoy it. And I'm terrible at thinking up what to make. My tip is to check out Rachael Ray's show... she inspires even me. While it takes her only 30 minutes, it would probably take the rest of us 45 or so, but her recipes ARE quick and easy... once you find the taragon and wonder how long it keeps, because you have no idea how many years you've had yours, and get over feeling guilty for not having fresh herbs on hand, and hoping that it doesn't really matter that much to the taste. And I agree... Costo rocks!

I don't cook much, but here is a recipe for Black Eyed Pea Salsa that is always a hit.

Use a good brand of black eyed peas, like Bush’s: rinse and drain.

Add hot peach salsa, or peach preserves mixed with hot sauce, to taste. (Heat peaches in microwave to make it easier to mix.)

Add chopped celery, bell peppers, and onion to taste. Mix and keep cold.

This recipe was given to me without any measurements. I use:
• 2 {15.8 oz.} cans of black eyed peas
• 1 whole 10 oz. jar of apricot or peach preserves or hot peach salsa
• if you used preserves, add Tobasco to taste
• 2 green bell peppers
• 2 yellow or red peppers
• most of a medium-large onion
• most of a stalk, or bunch, of celery.
Serve with Tostito Scoops.

Congrats on your blogaversary. It is a must check every day. I have yet to make a good crock pot recipe, but here's my favorite chicken recipe:
Chicken Enchiladas

2 tbsp canola oil
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
¼ tsp each salt and pepper
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 onions, sliced
1 each red and green peppers, thinly sliced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
1 cup drained diced tomatoes
½ cup shredded light-style Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
8 large whole wheat tortillas

Toppings:

½ cup shredded light-style Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
½ cup light sour cream

1. In bowl, combine 1 tbsp of the canola oil, the chilli powder, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper. Add chicken and coat with mixture. In non-stick skillet, heat remaining oil over medium-high heat; cook chicken for about 10 minutes or until no longer pink inside. Remove to plate.
2. Reduce heat to medium and cook onions, red and green peppers and jalapeno in same skillet for about 10 minutes or until tender; set aside.
3. Add chicken, tomatoes and cheese to pepper mixture; stir to combine. Divide filling among tortillas and roll up. Place in shallow 9 x 13- inch greases baking dish. Cover with aluminium foil and bake in 400F oven for about 15 minutes or until filling is hot. Remove foil and bake another 5 minutes or until tortillas are crisp. Sprinkle with cheese and dollop with sour cream before serving.

Wow, fantastic blog candy! I love those kits! Thanks for the great blog and sharing your wonderful talent!

I don't cook (I'm really bad at it), but love to throw together salads. This is a family favorite:

Spinach Salad
1 bag baby spinach
2 bags assorted greens (doesn't matter what kind -- variety is the secret)
1 small red onion, finely sliced into rings
1 lg. can mandarin oranges (drained)
1 cup of finely grated swiss cheese
1 cup (or more) craisins
1/2 cup slivered almonds
5-6 slices bacon, cut finely (I use the ready-to-eat so I don't have to cook it)

Toss with Brianne's Poppy Seed dressing (or other dressing of your choice) just before serving.

Here is a quick and easy thing to do with chicken breasts...

mix 2 tbsp. of melted butter with bar-b-que sauce, cover chicken in this. Crush croutons, and roll chicken in it. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 mins!

Love your blog...it was you who convinced me to buy the small Janome sewing machine last year! Thanks.

Easy Chocolate Fondue:
1/2 cup whipping cream (unwhipped) heated in microwave for about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes. Start with less time. Add one 12 ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips and stir and stir until melted and smooth. No need to even put into a fondue pot; this will stay soft for a while. Dip strawberried, pineapple, bananas, cookies, pound cake, marshmellows or whatever you like. Makes enough for 4-8 people.

Congratulations on your blog anniversary!

One recipe I like is Chicken & Cranberry Ring:
2 pkgs. crescent rolls
1/2 c. mayo
2 Tbs. honey dijon mustard
1/2 t. black pepper
2 c. cooked chicken (chopped)
1/2 c. sliced celery
3 Tbs. fresh parsley, snipped
1/2 c. dried cranberries chopped
4 oz. shredded Swiss Cheese (1 c.)
1/4 c. pecans chopped
1 egg, separated

With wide ends of triangles toward the center, place on a round stone, arrange 8 triangles in a circle. Match wide end of each remaining trangle to wide ind of each outer triangle; seal seams using pizza dough roller. Measure may, mustard and black pepper into a bowl. Add chicken, celery parsley, cheese and cranberries into the bowl and mix with mayo/mustard mix. Scoop filling over seams of dough forming a circle. Sprinkle pecans on top of ring and then overlap the dough pieces to form a wreath. Beat egg white lightly and brush over dough using a pastry brush. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serves ten. I serve this with a nice tossed salad and fruit. Makes for a delicious brunch meal or a Bunco party meal. Yummmy.

Happy Blogaversary! You have super great ideas and do fantastic work! Please keep giving up those wonderful idea.

Her is a recipe for my favorite bar-b-que sauce. It can be used on grilled chicken, pork, or beef.

Sweet and Sour BBQ Sauce

2 C. Ketchup
12 oz of a lemon lime, mt. dew type soda, margarita mix works too!
1/2 box dark brown sugar
1/4 C. Vinegar
1/4 C. Lemon juice(I prefer more to make it more tangy)
1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
1 Lemon cut into circular slices
**You can add one small can of tomato paste to thicken your sauce.

Mix all these things together and bring to a boil. Bast your meat with it and grill. Re boil leftover sauce before you eat and it is a great dipping sauce or fantastic on mashed potatoes.

6 Tbsp. KRAFT 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
6 small boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1-1/2 lb.)

PREHEAT oven to 375°F.
Pour sauce into 13x9-inch baking dish. Carefully stir in 4 Tbsp. (1/4 cup) of the Parmesan cheese. Add chicken; turn over to evenly coat both sides with sauce. Cover with foil.

BAKE 30 min. Uncover.

TOP with mozzarella cheese and remaining 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese; continue baking 5 min. or until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff:
1/4 cooking sherry
1 lb of stew meat
1 chopped onion
1 T Worshester (sp?)sauce
1 Can of Golden Mushroom soup (not cream of mushroom

When it's done cooking (about 8 hours on low) you can add either 4 oz of cream cheese or 4 oz sour cream. I usually double the recipe and add 4 oz of each.

This isn't really my recipe but it sure tastes great. I love eating coleslaw and love it even more when it is made with a vinagrette dressing. I use the Pampered Chef salad dressing container. I just use vegetable oil, white vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic clove(s) & Mrs. Dash seasoning. The container makes it easier because it shows you how much of each ingredient to use. Let the dressing sit on your coleslaw (I buy the packaged - already cut kind) for about 15 minutes before eating. You can throw on some chow mein noodles or nuts if you like as well.

Thanks for another opportunity for some awesome blog candy!

Great candy! I've left a couple of our fav. recipes, but another I like (too much to type out) is doing chicken caccitore in the crock pot. You can find the recipe in any cook book, and just adapt it for the crock pot (read: dump in all ingredients and cook for like 6 hrs on low) instead of all the trouble prepping it right at dinner time. It tastes so good with the tomato and pepper flavors stewed into the chicken. Yum!

Guess what Cambria! I just discovered a new quick and easy meal just in time for your give-away! Usually I don't have much of a recipe to give you. I think I have a winner for you this time though! It is called a haystacks and it looks like what it sounds...kind of! Haha. Anyway, here is how you make it.

Cook rice of your choice.
Crush tortilla chips and pile it on top of the rice.
On top of the tortilla chip pile you can put salsa, guacamole, sour cream, etc.

It is so TASTY! All you have to worry about is cooking the rice. The rest of the family can pile their haystacks as they choose. Well, I hope you enjoy! Thanks so much!

Congratulations on your blogaversary! I love coming here and see what you have made. You are an inspiration to all of us and I have gotten so many wonderful ideas from you. Keep them coming. Ü
Here is a yummy recipe from Usborne children's cookbook "Pasta & Pizza for Beginners"
We just made this last week and it was very yummy. Even my very picky son loved it.
Spaghetti alla Carbonara
(serves 4)
8-12 oz spaghetti

For the sauce:
8 oz Canadian Bacon or cooked ham (we had neither and used bacon)
1 large onion chopped
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon cooking oil
3 eggs
3 tablespoon half and half cream (we used 1% milk)
ground black pepper
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup margarine
1 level tablesppoon chopped parsley

1. Using scissors or a knife, cut the bacon into 1/2" strips. Peel and crush the garlic.
2. Read the instructions on the pkg of spaghetti to find out how long it will take to cook. Add it to the boiling water.
3. Heat the oil gently in a frying pan. Add the onion and garlic, and cook them for about five minutes until they are soft.
4. Add the bacon or ham. If youare using bacon, cook it until it is brown and crispyl. If you are using ham, cook it until it is hot.
5. Use a fork to beat the eggs, cream, a pinch of black pepper and most of the cheese to make a creamy mixture.
6. When the spaghetti is cooked, drain ti then put it back intot he pan. Add the margarine and toss the spaghetti until it is coated.
7. Add the bacon, onion and garlic then stir in the cheesy mixture. Use a fork to toss the spaghetti quickly, until it is coated. (the heat from the spahetti cooks the egg)
8. Put the spaghetti onto four plates or bowls. Sprinkle on the parsley and the rest of the cheese.
Serve immediately.

Yummy blog candy.

Yummy recipe:
cut up chicken very small and cook.
Mix with a block of cream cheese and also a can of diced olives.

Put mixture in those crossant rolls that come in a can and roll them up and bake. (just till the rolls brown a bit, the chicken is already cooked)

We always have this with rice and I put cream of chicken soup with it. You use the soup like a gravy.

It's wicked yummy. I want some right now. :)
