YESTERDAY was Wednesday Blog Candy.... DUH!

Sorry about that.... I totally spaced it was Wednesday YESTERDAY... that Monday holiday threw me off big time!

This week's blog candy is the eP exclusive set from Stampendous called Hey There Cupcake! There will also be some extra goodies, but I don't have them photographed... trust me, you will like. :)

I LOVE this set...... it's AWESBOMB indeed. Look at the options for cupcakes. I've been swamped making swap cards, but I'll put together my cupcake cards this weekend. LOVE this set... hope you do too.

Leave a comment, any comment. Of course recipes are ALWAYS appreciated. In fact, I've tried a few and SHAZAM, they are winners. I'll share those later next week, but you can check out the previous blog candy comments to get some GREAT recipes. Thanks so much for sharing girls!! Thanks too for helping me celebrate my one year Blogaversary!

Have a super day! I'll draw a winner from Random.org on Sunday. :)

I LOVE YOUR BLOG! Thanks for all of the wonderful inspiration. How about a recipe for easy taco soup in the crockpot?
1 lb. ground turkey or beef
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1 can of kidney beans not drained
1 can of corn not drained
1 8 oz. can/jar of tomato sauce
1 28 oz. can of crushed or whole tomatoes
1-2 cans of water
1 pkg of dry taco seasoning like Old El Paso
any type of jalapenos or chiles to spice it up if you want
Just brown the turkey and onion in a pan first, then dump all of the ingredients into the crockpot. Tastes best after 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 on low. Just add crushed tortilla chips on top when serving and a little cheddar cheese. It is YUMMY! Enjoy!

Roasted Red Pepper/Tomato Soup

This is a WONDERFUL soup. If you want a little more bulk, at last step add brown rice while simmering, if desired.

1 cup onion chopped
1 cup celery chopped
37 oz diced tomatoes with garlic
37 oz roasted red peppers including liquid
4 T powdered chicken base or granules
1 T basil
3 cups V-8 juice (I use spicy V-8)
1 cup water (or milk for creamier version)
1 tsp (or more) Crushed Red Pepper flakes if desired

Spray a large saucepan with cooking spray. Add onions and celery, sauté until tender. Stir in diced tomatoes and juice. Puree mixture in a food processor and return to saucepan. Puree the roasted red peppers with liquid and add to saucepan. Add chicken base and basil. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce to simmer and cook 30 minutes to blend flavors. Add water (or milk for a creamy soup) to desired consistency. I use more V-8 if consistency is still too thick. Serve hot or cold. Top with sour cream and fresh basil leaves. Soup may be made a day or two in advance to improve the flavor.

What a cute stamp set! As for a recipe, I'm a cookbook junkie so there's plenty to choose from. But I usually find myself checking out allrecipes.com or epicurious.com for recipes. All I do is search by ingredient (e.g. ground beef) and it'll pull up a ton of recipes using that ingredient. Then I sort them by ratings so that I have an idea of what's good and what's not. Hope this helps!

Now for a yummy dessert to try:

Cherry Vanilla Parfait
(easy to make) but oh so delicious.

1 Cup Cold Milk
1 Cup (1/2 pint) sour cream
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 pkg. (4 oz serving size) Jello-Vanilla or French Vanilla INSTANT pudding
1 cup canned cherry pie filling.
Combine milk, sour cream and almond extract in bowl. Add pudding mix and beat with mixer at low speed till well blended. Layer pudding & cherry pie filling in individual parfait glasses. Chill about 1 hour & top with whipped topping (Real Whipping Cream is the best).

wow... i'm really truly recipe challenged- but i could give you some Asian dish ideas: BulGoGi, for example - requires 1 cup of soy sauce, 1 cup sugar, 2 cups of diced onions, garlic (a ton) and 2tablespoons of sesame oil. a little sprinke of chopped green onions always makes it even better!

i love you site and love that set. wow. if i don't win it, i must buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is awesome blog candy, hope I win. I am going to leave you with the easiest recipe but always a winner.
Fruit crisp

1 cup quick oats
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup margarine
blend these together and place over pan of fruit (apples (sliced, cored and peeled), peaches, cherries, mixed berry) I use a regular size rectangle pan.
Bake for 1 hour at 350degrees.
Serve with whip cream or ice cream.
You can use any fruit and it is quick and easy.

Thanx for the chance at the candy, have a great weekend.

I love love love that cupcake set as much as I love reading your blog. Thank you for your inspiration and for taking the time to share your artistry and creativity with us all. Here is a recipe for Hearty Garlic Potato Soup. It's delicious and enjoyed by all at our house--except the picky 5 year old:) The garlic is not at all overpowering and adds a lot to the potato soup. Enjoy:)

Isabel Z

Serves 6 As A Main Course

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 medium leek, white and light green parts halved lengthwise, washed, and chopped small (about a cup)
3 medium garlic cloves, minced (about 1 tablespoon), plus 2 whole heads of garlic, rinsed, outer papersy skins removed and top third of heads cut off and discarded
6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
2 bay leaves
1 ½ pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes (about 4 ½ cups)
1 pound Red Bliss potatoes (unpeeled), cut into ½ inch cubes (about 3 cups)
½ cup of heavy cream
1 ½ teaspoons minced fresh thyme leaves
Ground black pepper
¼ cup minced fresh chives
Bacon bits

Instructions:
1. Melt butter in Dutch oven over medium heat. When foaming subsides , add leeks, and cook until soft (do not brown), 5 to 8 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add garlic heads, broth, bay leaves, and ¾ teaspoon of salt; partially cover pot and bring to simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer until garlic is very tender when pierced with tip of knife, 30 to 40 minutes. Add potatoes and continue to simmer, partially covered, until potatoes are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
2. Discard bay leaves. Remove garlic heads; squeeze garlic heads at root end until cloves slip out of their skins. Using fork, mash garlic to smooth paste in bowl.
3. Stir cream, thyme and half garlic paste; heat soup until hot, about 2 minutes. Taste soup; add remaining garlic paste if desired. Using immersion blender, process soup until creamy, with some potato chunks remaining. Season with salt and pepper and serve, sprinkling each portion with chives and bacon tips.

Congrats on your blog anniversary! What wonderful cupcake candy you are giving away. I would love to find a recipe for chocolate fudge cupcakes without any milk or nuts.

I know this sounds weird, but try it - FRIED SPAGHETTI noodles from leftovers. I use Vermacelli (a little lighter), and never thought it could be sooo delish. I cook extra on purpose now, throw plain cooked noodles into fridge. All you have to do is throw it in a fry pan and heat up (non stick is perfect) sometimes I put a little margarine, but you do not need it. Just fry it up, sometimes I add in some small chunks of cream cheese and margarine, leftover x-lean meatloaf. You can add anything you like to taste and voila 5 minute dinner... it is delish, it will not burn or overcook...easy peasy and sooo yummy and hot.
